I DESTROYED My Driveshaft Off-Road… So I Upgraded to STEEL
Last week on the trail I absolutely DESTROYED my aluminum driveshaft while off-roading my 3rd Gen Chevy Colorado ZR2, and in this video we finally fix the problem with a heavy-duty STEEL driveshaft upgrade. After smashing the stock-style setup on the rocks, it was obvious the truck needed something stronger before heading back out to the trails. In this video I go through the full install process, show the damage from the broken driveshaft, talk about what failed on the trail, and explain why I decided to switch from aluminum to steel for my off-road build. If you own a 2023+ Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon, Colorado ZR2, Canyon AT4X, or any midsize overland/off-road truck, this video should help you decide what setup is best for hard wheeling and rock crawling. This truck gets USED. We’re not building mall crawlers over here — we actually take these trucks out into the desert, crawl obstacles, smash skid plates, and test what works and what doesn’t. Last week’s trail damage turned into this week’s upgrade, and honestly the new setup should hold up way better on difficult trails and technical obstacles. If you watched the previous video where the driveshaft got destroyed on the obstacle, you already know how bad it was. The truck took a serious hit underneath and the aluminum shaft didn’t survive the abuse. So in this episode we wrench on the truck, install the new steel driveshaft, and get the Colorado ready for the next off-road adventure. This channel is all about the 3rd Gen Colorado and Canyon community — trail runs, overlanding, modifications, suspension upgrades, rock crawling, camping, recovery gear, installs, reviews, and pushing these trucks to their limits. If you’re into Chevy Colorado ZR2 content, GMC Canyon AT4X builds, off-road fabrication, or real-world testing, make sure you subscribe because we’ve got a lot more coming soon. Huge shoutout to the people who wheel with me and everybody supporting the channel. More trail content, harder obstacles, camping trips, recoveries, and Colorado ZR2 upgrades are on the way.
