Wampler Ratsbane | ProCo Rat 2 shootout + Telecaster, Stratocaster and Les Paul tones! Review & Demo
This is the Wampler Ratsbane – Brian Wampler’s take on the beloved ProCo Rat 2 distortion/overdrive/fuzz pedal we all know and love! In this video, I run the Ratsbane through my Fender Stratocaster, my Fender Telecaster and my Epiphone Les Paul to see how it handles the different guitars and pickups. As usual, I play a bunch of riffs in my favorite styles on all three guitars – indie, classic rock, pop punk, alternative rock and more – and afterwards I do a loop on each guitar where I tweak the Ratsbane’s knobs to show you all the extremes you can get with it. Then comes the shootout against the ProCo Rat 2, where I run a rock loop and tweak the knobs on the two pedals so you can hear how close they get tonally – and what extra options you get with the Ratsbane’s different modes! Which pedal do you prefer? Let me know in the comments! My setup was as follows: I ran the Ratsbane straight into my Hughes & Kettner Black Spirit 200 head. That went from the Red Box DI straight into my Focusrite Scarlett 2i4, which went into Logic Pro X. That's it. No post-processing on the sounds was done. Oh, and I used my TC Electronic Ditto Looper to play the loops.
