Philosopher and political analyst Hugo Herrera analyzes José Antonio Kast's cabinet reshuffle and argues that, while the decision was necessary and may give the government some breathing room, it also places it under much greater pressure, especially regarding security and the political leadership of La Moneda (the presidential palace). In a conversation with Al Pan Pan, Herrera maintains that the adjustment was inevitable given the rapid erosion of influence of two key figures on the political committee: Security Minister Trinidad Steinert and spokesperson Mara Zedini. In his view, the move strengthens Claudio Alvarado's position within the inner circle, limits the prominence of advisors like Cristián Valenzuela and Iván Irarrázaval, and seeks to restore effective control of the government's political and communications coordination to the Ministry of the Interior. But the interview goes beyond the change of personnel. Herrera argues that the Executive's fundamental problem is not only the improvisation in security matters or the cost of promises difficult to keep, but a deeper deficiency: the lack of a robust political narrative to support its economic agenda. According to him, the government seems to continue approaching politics from the perspective of management, numbers, and efficiency, without yet developing a broader national vision that would allow it to confront the opposition on the level of ideas, not just on the level of administration.
