Second generation Lexus IS250 VS IS350: The difference between the best car series for young people

The Lexus IS series is one of the most widely accepted compact sedans for young people worldwide and especially in Nigeria. Since it’s debut in 1998, three generations have been released and in different trim levels. In this video, we’ll focus on the second generation of the Lexus IS series, the XE20. The second generation IS series was launched in 2005 and released for sale in 2006. It was made available in four trim levels but in Nigeria, the IS250 and IS350 are the most popular. Sitting on the same chassis and bearing the same design & features, the IS250 & IS350 could be very mistaken to be the same but they are at two extreme ends of a line. The IS250 is powered by a 2.5L naturally aspirated V6, Lexus’ 4GR-FSE mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. It features just direct injection. This pushes 204 horses, 251Nm of torque and bolts from rest to 100km/h in a teary 8.1 seconds. The Lexus IS350 however is powered by a 3.5L V6, Lexus’ 2GR-FSE mated to the same 6-speed automatic but this car pushes 306 horses and 375Nm of torque. It features both direct and port injection . It sprints from rest to 100kmph in an amazing 5.3 seconds which makes the IS250 seem ridiculous. In the video above, I elaborated on the major differences highlighting certain features. I hope you do enjoy it. While the IS350 comes with more drivability & fun, do note that it also comes with extra mechanical expenses but economically speaking, the difference isn’t so much.
