Fix Jazz's Roof - How to repair the hidden sliding loop under the hood - why it always breaks
There's no way Takara expected kids to transform this correctly back in the early 80s! Jazz's complex sliding roof (and multi-jointed abdomen) are major weak spots in the design that are hard for adult collectors to navigate, much less 5 year olds. That's why so many Jazz examples have missing roofs and snapped waists. In today's Repair...Repair we address the broken roof, both the snapped joint between the windshield and hood, as well as the hidden sliding loop under the hood. Although the break looks superficially similar to Prowl's / Bluestreak's broken roof, Jazz breaks in a unique way. We'll use an alligator clip, a.k.a. a plastic clothes pin, as raw material to fabicate a new loop, and apply the pinning technique to create an ultra-strong connection that can withstand the impact forces of this load-bearing mechanism. In this video we cover a lot of useful repair and restoration territory along the way - cutting, drilling, pinning, plastic welding, filing, even a bit of cleaning. Even if you don't have a Jazz in need of repair, you can learn a lot of techniques that apply to a variety of projects.
