Day in the Life - Working the Back Pen!
Replacement heifers are a VITAL part of keeping a ranch going. My boss always says “You have to keep your cattle numbers up.” Having a good mother cow that can produce a good, healthy, hearty calf every year is paramount to the success of the ranch. The goal every year in retaining these “replacement heifers” is to keep adding to your herd from cows you know (to the best of your ability) will be good. Every year when new heifers come in, old cows go out. This maintains a healthy cycle of good, maternal, healthy cows that make up the ranches herd and will keep the money, through a good calf crop, flowing year to year! Freeze branding is not necessary, but is super handy. Tags come out quite often, so it’s really nice to always have a defining feature for each animal! This is vital in maintaining accurate records which is also a vital part of a healthy and thriving ranch. Hope y’all found this one interesting! As always y’all, appreciate the love and support! Also THANKS FOR 100K!!!!! We’ll catch ya in the next one!
