The Curious Case of the Restored Wagner - Hobby Boredom & Failed Card Theses

With a "Restored" Honus Wagner T206 card going up for sale at Love of the Game Auctions, the temptation has returned to try and assign a little too much significance to what is otherwise the market determining what a "custom" or "made to order" card is worth. Would this even warrant the discussion if it was going to sell for a nominal amount? I doubt this, so I outline why and compare the idea of Custom and Unlicensed cards to show that there can be markets for different collecting styles, but that doesn't necessarily translate into changing the idea that a card is worth what the market deems it to be worth.
