metal detecting for a lost pirate hoard worth millions on honeymoon island

In this episode, I am taking my metal detector to the shores of Honeymoon Island State Park, Florida, to hunt for the lost fortune of the notorious 19th-century French privateer, Captain Louis-Michel Aury.Born in France in 1788, Aury was a "pirate with papers" who plundered Spanish ships across the Gulf. In 1817, fleeing from the U.S. Navy on Florida’s east coast, Aury sailed his fleet into the Gulf Coast seeking refuge. Local lore says he brought a massive fortune with him—worth an estimated $140 million in today’s money—and was forced to bury it in multiple secret caches along Clearwater Bay, the Anclote River, and right here on Honeymoon Island before the military could arrest him.Local treasure hunters have even discovered marked "marker stones" on the island pointing toward his haul! We are hitting the beaches and scanning the low-tide surf line to see if shifting sands have finally exposed some of Aury's 200-year-old plundered silver, Spanish cobs, or historic relics. #metaldetecting #minelabmanticore #beach #genx
