BARILE - LA SACRA RAPPRESENTAZIONE DELLA VIA CRUCIS (sub eng)

Il Venerdì Santo, Barile vanta la rappresentazione della Via Crucis più antica della Basilicata. La sua storia si inscrive nel tentativo, da parte della Chiesa, di convogliare i costumi e i riti arbëreshe nella cosmogonia cattolica. Accanto infatti ai protagonisti delle Scritture, e più specificamente dei protagonisti della Crocifissone, compare la Zingara, simbolo di lussuria e peccato, ma anche espressione del nomadismo che nei secoli ha caratterizzato la cultura arbëreshe. A interpretare i personaggi che sfilano nel corteo uomini e donne comuni, membri della comunità di Barile che nel segno della fede e del folklore celebrano l'intimo attaccamento alla propria storia. Its history is part of the Church's attempt to integrate Arbëresh customs and rites into the Catholic worldview. In fact, alongside the protagonists of the Scriptures, and more specifically of the Crucifixion, there is the Gypsy, a symbol of lust and sin, but also an expression of the nomadism that has characterized Arbëresh culture for centuries. The characters that parade in the procession are interpreted by ordinary men and women, members of the Barile community who, in the name of faith and folklore, celebrate their intimate attachment to their own history.
