The attack in Halle in October 2019 is tragic proof that the far right will stop at nothing, even murder. A neo-Nazi shot and killed two people in front of a synagogue. The authorities are alarmed: In the latest report by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, right-wing extremism is considered the greatest extremist threat in Germany. In France, too, security authorities are monitoring far-right groups. In 2022, French media revealed the existence of a right-wing network within the French army that openly professes Nazi ideology.
