Věra Dvořák, PhD, native of Moravské Budějovice, is the Senior Manager of Machine Learning Operations at Yext, a tech company headquartered in Chelsea, NYC.  A formal linguist by training with an academic background in generative grammar, she has published research on topics at the syntax-semantics interface. After entering the industry, Věra has led numerous annotation projects in Natural Language Processing, the specialized branch of AI that bridges the gap between human communication and computer understanding. Her work centers on scaling machine learning pipelines through rigorous data labeling management and responsible AI oversight. Most recently, she has shifted to the evaluation of Large Language Models to develop and optimize tools for digital marketing, brand visibility, and answer engine optimization. A woman of many hats, she is also an active board member of SVU New York and a founder of Czech School New York, which offers online courses for kids whose heritage language is Czech.
