China's "new mega dam" is the Medog Hydropower Station, under construction in Tibet on the Yarlung Tsangpo River (Brahmaputra River). Expected to be the world's largest hydropower facility, the project will have five dams designed to generate 60 gigawatts of electricity, potentially three times the output of the Three Gorges Dam.
