Why is music such a source of pleasure? How does rhythm affect us? These and many more questions about the connection between brain and music are answered in an evening of discussion and musical performance. Robert Zatorre and Simone Dalla Bella, two leading researchers in the field, and musicians from the Montreal Symphony Orchestra guide you on a neuroscientific and musical journey. Zatorre, a researcher at ‪@MontrealNeuro‬ The Neuro has spent his life studying our emotional response to music and the impact of musical practice on brain plasticity. Dalla Bella, a professor at the Université de Montréal and co-director of ‪@BramsLaboratory‬ is an expert in the perception of rhythm in music and its clinical applications in neurodegenerative and developmental diseases. Accompanied by select musicians from the symphony, they discuss the latest research into music’s impact on the brain.
