To begin trail running, it's important to understand training, equipment, shoes, nutrition, choosing races, and finding training routes. By definition, trail running is a sport that involves running in a natural environment (mountains, desert, forest, plains) with as few paved or asphalt roads as possible, which should not exceed 20% of the total distance. The terrain can vary (dirt tracks, forest paths, singletrack trails, etc.), with the presence of course markings or signage. In competition, trail running is practiced in semi-self-sufficiency or self-sufficiency, and takes place with respect for sportsmanship, fair play, solidarity, and the environment.
