Tiger Leaping Gorge 虎跳峡, North of Lijiang City, Yunnan, China

When Janet and I were at Lijiang, we took a day trip to the Tiger Leaping Gorge 虎跳峡. At the Tiger Leaping Gorge, the river charges through the gorge with untamed force, its roar echoing off the cliffs like a constant challenge to the mountains themselves. The energy feels fierce and alive, as if the water is still carrying the pulse of something legendary. Locals say a tiger once leapt across the raging current here, and standing by the river, that bold spirit feels entirely believable. Tiger Leaping Gorge is located in southwestern China's Yunnan Province, approximately 60–80 kilometers north of Lijiang City. It lies between the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Haba Snow Mountain in the Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, specifically within the Jinsha River area near Qiaotou Town.
