Upside Down Kingdom - Week 1 | Pennington AG Church
Upside Down Kingdom - Week 1 Pastor Brian Lane, Lead Pastor Pennington AG Church Jesus was not a safe teacher. He was and is a revolutionary, desiring for your life to be completely flipped by his resurrection power. Vulnerability is power, and empathy strength, suffering a blessing. Sit at the feet of Jesus and learn what blessings in the Kingdom of Heaven truly are. Message Notes: 1 Samuel 16:7 People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. The Beatitudes: Jesus teaches 8 truths that turn the world upside down where the weak are strong and those in mourning receive comfort. With our public lives slowed, our private lives now move at a destructive pace. Matthew 5:1-2 One day as he saw the crowds gathering, Jesus went up on the mountainside and sat down. His disciples gathered around him, and he began to teach them. MAIN POINT: To receive the blessing of God, sit at his feet. In a moment, we are given eternal life. But becoming like Jesus takes a lifetime. Sitting at the feet of Jesus requires three things: 1. Intentional plan. 2. Intentional schedule. 3. Intentional place. Matthew 5:1-2One day as he saw the crowds gathering, Jesus went up on the mountainside and sat down. His disciples gathered around him, and he began to teach them. Rather than asking God to change your circumstances, sit down and let him change you instead. "What happens in us is far more important than what happens to us or through us." - George Wood Matthew 5:1-2One day as he saw the crowds gathering, Jesus went up on the mountainside and sat down. His disciples gathered around him, and he began to teach them. Mountains: Mountains were places God changed his people Mountains are the places of revolutionaries "Before he went to the masses, he went to the mountain. Before the disciples encountered the crowds, they encountered the Christ. And before they faced the people, they were reminded of the sacred." - Max Lucado The Beatitudes: 1. God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. 2. God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted. 3. God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth. 4. God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied. 5. God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy. 6. God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God. 7. God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God. 8. God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
