On the surface, a race looks like a bunch of runners stepping to the line to see who is the fastest, but inside the mind of every racer, they’re taking stock of the skills and tendencies of every other competitor in the race to strategize how to best play The Game... and every time they step to the line, The game is different. Before Galen Rupp turned his attention to the roads, he made his living on the track as one of the world's best 10,000m runners- possessing the American Record of 26:44 and the Olympic Silver from London 2012. At the 2021 Portland Track Festival, he returned to the track for 25 laps amidst his build-up to the Tokyo Marathon.
