How to Catch Barbel/Catfish!
Welcome back to Kees on the Vaal dam. This is a private venue, only open to a few clubs! Our favorite bait for barbel/catfish is definitely a mudfish head. The bigger the bait the bigger the fish in this case. The main reason for this is that the smaller barbel/catfish can't swallow the bait and this gives you more time to hook a better fish. Barbel/catfish tend to follow the wind in a dam situation. They love some added oxygen in the water as most fish do. So if the wind is blowing towards you...CAST THAT BAIT AND WAIT! Biggest fish caught on the day: Barbel/catfish = 18kg's Grass Carp = 4.9kg's Carp = 4.6kg's Springbok Baits has really been performing well! Vampire White Garlic, KD02 Bunspice Mix and White Chocolate has been catching most of our fish. FLOATIES, FLOATIES AND FLOATIES. The Carp are on fire, quick bites on floaties at greater distances of around 100m to 120m. #fishing #carpfish #carp #fish #carpfishing #freshwaterfish #barbel #catfish #papgooi #oewerhengel #educational #bait #vaaldam #southafrica #JesusisLord
