She tries not to stay in the same place for a long time, hoping that her superpowers will remain a secret and makes a living singing in clubs and bars. Cat Grant is a junior editor for The New York Times. She refuses to move back to the West Coast, much to the chagrin of her successful mother and generally works too hard.
