The Apple was most likely recorded sometime in 2007 when he started working on his retirement mixtape called "King Mathers." He references Proof's death (2006), Cashis (signed in 2006) - which he gave his bullet proof vest to, and the production/voice sounds very 2007. In 2006 he was focused on The Re-Up and producing for his label mates, but by 2007, he was only really working on his own music and with Cashis.
