In the logistics industry, driven by labor shortages and rising costs, "joint delivery," where multiple companies consolidate and transport goods, and systems for sharing delivery personnel during their free time are gaining attention. Especially in urban areas, with the expansion of in-house delivery demand, services like AnyCarry, which visualize and optimize delivery resources on the cloud, are growing. Their use is also expanding to inter-store and immediate delivery for drugstores, ushering in an era where delivery infrastructure and system integration are transforming inventory placement and store operations themselves. We spoke with Mr. Kozaki about "logistics"! ▽The Increasing Trend of Joint Delivery As I mentioned last time, the Amazon-type model, which the government also recommends, is difficult for companies other than those with tens of billions of yen in investment. However, there is a trend towards other patterns, such as joint delivery, where companies that cannot do it alone can work together to achieve their goals. When food manufacturers face rising raw material and logistics costs, making it impossible to transport everything, a system where companies gather and bring their goods at a designated time, then transported by a single company, would lower costs. However, reality hasn't progressed that far yet. The reason is that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) already use wholesalers as part of their distribution channels, and in reality, wholesalers are essentially acting as a substitute for joint delivery. In the case of B2B joint delivery of food products, large chain stores are taking the lead in this trend. I believe joint delivery will become possible once delivery slip codes are standardized in the future. Currently, we have large sorting warehouses in Shin-Kiba in the Kanto region and Kadoma in the Kansai region, where we consolidate B2C shipments from various companies in the central areas of Kanto and Kansai, sort them by destination, and then deliver them using light cargo vehicles. ▽Development of AnyCarry's Delivery Network Regarding urban delivery, the market itself has stabilized in growth, and at the same time, the content is gradually changing. Despite the big news of Wolt's withdrawal from the Japanese market, their own delivery service is growing tremendously. McDonald's McDelivery, which we at AnyCarry assist with, uses our core system nationwide. Matsuya, Kura Sushi, and Seven-Eleven's 7NOW also operate on parts of our system. We collaborate with various delivery companies and distribute deliveries through our system. The shortage of last-mile drivers is simply a lack of drivers with 8 hours free; there are actually many drivers with 1-2 hours free all over town. The problem is that we don't know where, who, or how much free time they have, so there's no way to utilize them. We collect that data in one place, put it on the cloud, and make it freely available to stores in that area. We are probably the only company that has this system. Our own delivery service is growing incredibly fast right now. Free resources—delivery drivers—can be used as resources, for example, if they are Uber drivers, newspaper delivery drivers, or delivery drivers for online supermarkets, as long as they register that they can deliver. The goal of AnyCarry is to visualize these convenient resources and share them with everyone, thereby moving closer to an even more convenient society. Currently, there is a shortage of resources, so the government is aiming for efficiency, and we and other companies are working on systems, but it's still not enough. That's why they're bringing in foreigners, and we're currently employing foreign drivers through technical intern training programs. The number of foreign drivers will continue to increase, but we believe that we can solve the problem by visualizing the surplus resources of delivery personnel and sharing them with everyone. For example, instead of receiving packages at one location, if, for example, 10 or 20 packages are gathered at one location, a driver with free time can distribute those 10 or 20 packages to nearby locations when they have free time. We believe that our expertise as system developers lies in how we can automate this process without human intervention and how we can achieve optimal matching. ▽Real Stores × Delivery Infrastructure Regarding real stores, many of the projects we are currently preparing are with drugstores. Not only do they deliver medicine to end users, but there are also many cases where they use our delivery service for inventory transfers between stores. Until now, pharmacists would run the routes, but with our infrastructure, you can simply press a button, and a driver can be dispatched in as little as one second, or even two or three minutes.
