Ajoy Chakrabarty, a living legend of Indian Classical Music, is a doyen of the Patiala Kasur Gharana and represents the gayaki as well as the legacy of Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan Sahib. His knowledge and unparalleled mastery allows him to portray in his music, the nuances of other major north Indian gharanas and Carnatic styles, with elan and grace. In the third Bengal Classical Music Festival held in Dhaka in 2014, he swayed the audience with a light classical Bengali song, ‘Shyam Badhua ki jadu jane haay banshite je dekechhe amay’. The audience was captivated by the nuanced sustained notes which beautifully describe.
