In this documentary, Pastor Florian Reinecke meets Katharina Hirschberg. Katharina struggled with suicidal thoughts at the age of 14. Together with her mother, she sought professional help from the Diakonie (a social welfare organization). With the help of hospital stays and outpatient therapy, she was able to overcome her suicidal thoughts and depression. Today, she volunteers for suicide prevention at U25. As a peer counselor, she advises adolescents and young adults who also suffer from suicidal thoughts. She is supported in this by Lara Rodday, a full-time social worker at U25 Suicide Prevention. She trains the peers, assigns them clients via email, and leads peer team meetings. Götz Schwope also emphasizes the importance of suicide prevention among adolescents. He works as a psychotherapist for children and adolescents. In his practice, he frequently encounters boys and girls who have suicidal thoughts. He knows which mental illnesses, besides depression, can be the underlying cause and which other factors play a role in suicides.
