A nautical chart is a comprehensive set of knowledge. It shows the coastline and elevations, depths, shallows, fairways, lighthouses, restricted areas, and traffic separation zones. Using a nautical chart, we can adjust for magnetic declination, plot courses, and measure distances. A chart is a sailor's mother, father, and wife. NOTE: This lecture is in an abridged format.
