Over the New Year's holiday, my husband and I visited some shops in Sapporo that we'd been interested in for a while. All four of the shops we visited were in Higashi Ward, and we drove there by car, though some are a little difficult to reach by public transportation. Our first stop was Fune, a shop we'd come across every time we visited a flea market since my husband and I became obsessed with them last year. We'd always noticed how hard they worked to set up booths at events. The owner, who looks younger than us, just opened his shop in 2024 and told us, "Now is the time to work hard, so we try to participate in as many events as possible." While the booths were always lovely, the actual store was even more impressive, and is sure to appeal to anyone with a penchant for tableware. We learned about Parsⅼi, our lunch partner, when Le chant de coq, an antiques and brocante store in Kita Ward, Sapporo, told us, "There's a wonderful shop in Higashi Ward." (We're very grateful.) I followed their Instagram, and their photos and writing were so stylish, and the owner's personality really shined through. I'd been wanting to visit, and finally, at the end of the year, I finally got to make it happen. Because it's such a popular restaurant, I made a reservation via Instagram direct message. Parking is available around the restaurant, with space for about four or five cars. Everything about the food and the atmosphere was fantastic. Above all, the owner's charm seemed to fill the restaurant with a mysterious sense of comfort. I've already committed to returning in January. Upon seeing my necklace (a brass piece by Yuka Hiura, which I recently purchased at a small exhibition), she exclaimed, "Oh, how beautiful! It must be by a brass artist." Her insight was incredible, and it made me want to become a dignified adult who appreciates fine art. Bisco, one of Hokkaido's largest selections of antique furniture, is one of my favorites, and I've visited it several times. It's a great place to find inspiration for redecorating your room, or simply enjoy browsing the beautiful furniture. Attic's pottery is also beautiful. The last place we visited was taai, a place I'd actually been interested in after seeing it featured on someone else's YouTube channel. It's open from 7:30am, serves simple but delicious coffee and snacks, and the owner has an honest personality, so it's easy to see why so many people who live nearby frequent it. It seemed like many of the customers were regulars, but even for us, it was our first time there, and we felt at ease and relaxed. My husband has started drinking Americano coffee at home, and he seems to really like it. This time, we've covered a lot of great shops, so I hope you enjoy the video.
