In this video, I share my understanding of Gyokko Ryū Kosshijutsu and begin establishing the foundational principles of the ryū-ha as we prepare to study it in greater depth. Over the next several months, we will be carefully drilling the kihon of this important classical tradition. At this stage, students should avoid approaching Gyokko Ryū simply as a fighting style. This introductory video is intended to help students of kobudō, traditional Japanese martial arts, recognize the distinctive principles, movement, structure, and subtle nuances that define this particular tradition.
