Making a Primitive ELK BONE KNIFE
Making a bone bladed knife from an elk leg bone. The handle is from a deer leg, hafted with a mixture of pine pitch, charcoal and processed plant fiber. The hafting is elk sinew and the handle is wrapped with yucca rope coated with hide glue. To address concerns of some viewers, this is a video showing YOU how to make a primitive bone knife. Even though I use modern equipment in this video, it doesn't inhibit you from using primitive methods. I've become limited in my ability to use primitive methods due to shoulder surgery that has reduced usage of my right arm. For those of you wondering how sharp a bone knife is, check out the BONE vs. FLINT knife video. NOTE: At this point I don't have any knives for sale but will update this note if any become available.
