Conferencia Magistral : El encuentro del Templo Mayor Azteca

INESDYC Presents Keynote Address “The Encounter of the Aztec Templo Mayor of Tenochtitlán” by Mexican-Dominican Archaeologist Eduardo Matos Moctezuma Santo Domingo – The Institute of Higher Education in Diplomatic and Consular Training (INESDYC), an academic body of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX), presented the keynote address entitled: “The Encounter of the Aztec Templo Mayor of Tenochtitlán,” delivered by the distinguished Mexican-Dominican archaeologist, Eduardo Matos Moctezuma. The Aztec Templo Mayor possesses great historical and humanistic value, reaffirming the cultural ties between Ibero-American nations and reminding us that historical heritage does not belong solely to the past; it also builds identity, dialogue, and collective awareness of the present. To speak of Tenochtitlán is to speak of a civilization that continues to challenge the present. It is to return to the heart of an ancient city that did not disappear, but rather remains beneath the modern city, in its stones, in its symbols, and in the memory of Mexico. The work led by Dr. Matos Moctezuma opened a crucial door to understanding the historical, religious, and political universe that forms an essential part of humanity's heritage. During his welcoming remarks, Ambassador-Rector José Rafael Espaillat emphasized that welcoming Dr. Eduardo Matos Moctezuma to INESDYC also affirms that diplomatic training must engage with the profound history of Latin America. It must examine our shared roots, acknowledge our differences, and value the bonds that have made Mexico and the Dominican Republic two nations close in times of greatness, hardship, and solidarity.
