Mercedes Benz 508D restoration, EP 3, Cutting and Scraping

IN THIS EPISODE Roof gets cut off, some other advanced welding happenig and we deal with the lovely midnight blue colour tone to uncover history. Also to our surprise winter arrives which adds it's challenges. We might look like a gang that knows what they are doing and the same time like a bunch of amateurs trying to push mud uphill. Either way, we are what we are and we have not lost the spirit. Enjoy A bit of History We wanted a van with character and we bought a Mercedes Benz 508D from 1979 which needed a little body work done, such as rear window change, some rust to deal with and repainting before we would move on to interior build ad set off to fantasy travels, gosh we were so naive to think that way and we would not imagine the things we are going to do to this truck in terms of restoration. What we did not know was how much rust we will be finding once we strip out the interior and look behind the panels. Our naive plan to sort out the body work in 3 - 4 month time has turned in to a full restoration mode which currently marks one year and a half anniversary and gosh how far we have dug in. Restoration is a long and slow process which also means delivering dynamic progress content to YouTube is very challenging.
