Faculty Bookwatch: The Blood of Emmett Till with Author Tim Tyson

Duke professor Timothy Tyson​ was the main attraction at the Franklin Humanities Institute's Faculty Bookwatch event, which featured his latest publication "The Blood of Emmett Till." The book delves into the atrocious beating and mutilation of a 14 year old African-American boy from Chicago, Emmett Till, after being accused of sexual harassment by a white woman in the Mississippi Delta. A roundtable discussion ensued with invited guest panelists: University of Wiscon-Madison's Chair of Afro-American Studies, Craig Werner; Ohio State's African American Studies Undergraduate Studies Chair, Curtis Austin; North Carolina Central University Law Professor, Irving Joyner; and Duke Associate Professor of History, Adriane Lentz-Smith.
