He was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1961. He studied at the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Buenos Aires. He graduated and specialized in psychoanalysis, a discipline he promotes both through his academic work and his extensive media presence. He was a speaker at the World Congress of Psychoanalysis in Mexico City; he leads psychoanalytic training workshops at local and international universities. Stories from the Couch (2007), his first book from a psychoanalytic perspective, was an unusual bestseller in Argentina and was published in Germany, Spain, Uruguay, Bulgaria, Mexico, and Brazil—a phenomenon that was repeated with his second book, Crossed Words, and with the publication of The Sufferers, his first novel, which was translated into French, Portuguese, and Italian, and adapted into a film. The cases he presents in his works are used to study psychoanalytic clinical practice at universities in Argentina, Paraguay, Spain, and Brazil.
