Merkur Disc | Erfolgreichstes Geldspielgerät der adp Gauselmann | Technik erklärt von Matthias

To this day, it remains the best-selling slot machine of all time. It was officially unveiled at the IMA 1984 with a red reel and gold-colored frame – a design for the Merkur Disc that was later released in numerous color variations. What no one could have predicted at the time: an incredible 40,000 units rolled off the production line at the adp factory. Unlike the reel machines launched up to that point, the Disc, with its rotating reel system, was a novelty in the portfolio of the East Westphalian company. Numerous other models, such as the Merkur Disc Olympia, Merkur Disc 2000, and Merkur Disco Disc – to name just a few – followed this machine. The Disc series thus shaped the world of small-stakes gaming in 1980s Germany like no other. However, one special feature of the original Disc deserves particular mention. Unlike all subsequent Disc models, it features a risk ladder with 100 free spins. All the others offered a maximum of 50 bonus games, which is why the first Merkur Disc is still referred to by many as the "100-Disc." The classic disc game is still familiar to many players, albeit now in digital form. As a kind of historical homage, it can still be found among the current games offered by adp Gauselmann GmbH.
