Water power is being channeled in eastern Kazakhstan. A self-taught mechanic has designed a damless mini hydroelectric power plant. The hydroelectric power plant converts river flow into electricity and is capable of generating up to 600 kilowatts per hour. My colleague Vyacheslav Vetlugin attended the technical testing of the new power plant. Nesypkhan Galymzhanov didn't have to reinvent the wheel to generate cheap electricity, but the parts he used came in handy. The craftsman improved the water wheel, attached additional blades to it, and submerged it. This upgrade allowed the plant to operate on rivers with low currents. A 3-meter prototype is being tested. A wheel twice as large should generate 200 kilowatts of electricity, enough to light and heat 40 homes.
