The four loops look like butterfly wings, and the knot in the center is a Kanae knot. It is called Kanae knot because the front side looks like a "mouth" and the back side looks like a "ten" (ten), and it is considered to be an auspicious knot that "makes wishes come true." This Mizuhiki butterfly may seem difficult at first, but the steps are simple. The key to finishing it beautifully is to align the flow of the Mizuhiki so that it does not shift, and tie it while holding down the shape of the loop you made so that it does not lose its shape.
