She has experience at various levels of government: local, regional, and national. Her career in institutional politics began in 2015 in the Madrid Assembly as a member of parliament. In 2018, she joined Pedro Sánchez's government as Minister of Industry, Tourism, and Trade. In that role, she had to manage the pandemic and the outbreak of war in Ukraine. In 2023, she was chosen to lead the party in one of the most challenging arenas for the PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party): the city of Madrid. Reyes Maroto (Medina del Campo, Valladolid, 1973) values ​​her continued involvement in municipal politics, where she serves as spokesperson for the Socialist group in the Madrid City Council. Now, she faces an immediate challenge: consolidating her leadership and once again heading the PSOE list for Mayor of Madrid in 2027.
