CTBUH 2012 Shanghai Congress - Christopoulos, "Coupling Damper System for Enhanced Performance"
September 19, 2012. Shanghai, China. As high-rise buildings are built taller and more slender, the dynamic behavior becomes a critical design consideration. Current damping systems cannot be reliably used to reduce wind or earthquake design loads and they occupy the most valuable space at the top of the building. This presentation discusses the Viscoelastic Coupling Damper, which increases the level of inherent damping of the structure such that wind and earthquake effects are considerably reduced.
