Molecular Tumor Board Series - Breast Cancer with ESR1 and PIK3CA mutations

Dr. Paul Walker discusses Breast Cancer patient with ESR1 and PICK3CA mutations from cfDNA. These mutations denote mechanism (estrogen) resistant pathway markers. Important to match treatment or effective therapy with molecular profile – ESR1 and PIK3CA. Utilization of a CDK4/6i and fulvestrant treatment. Studies presented to support matched treatments result in improved overall survival rates. Dr. Walker also discusses detection rates of ESR1 and PIK3CA with liquid vs tissue biopsy at time of diagnosis and for patient response.
