The Real Locations of Night of the Living Dead | WICU Bill Cardille

In 1952, Bill Cardille, a Sharon, Pennsylvania native, began his broadcasting career at WICU-TV in Erie before moving to Pittsburgh, where he became a beloved personality on WPXI and host of the legendary Chiller Theater. Cardille also appeared as a news reporter in George A. Romero’s cult horror classic Night of the Living Dead (1968). Join the Project Algerine crew as we explore the original Night of the Living Dead filming locations in Evans City, including the cemetery featured in the film, while highlighting Cardille’s connection to Erie and Pittsburgh broadcasting history. Special thanks to Lawrence DeVincentz for his research and tours, and we highly recommend visiting the Living Dead Museum in Monroeville, PA for fans of Romero and classic zombie cinema.
