A: no Q: is a sample pack upgrade? A: yes and more. The samples are optimized for small memory (silence stripped), and embedded in a unique way, making it possible to traverse thru the sample using the start-position (and automating that) on each part. That is a huge upgrade, since normally you would be limited to one sample per part. Q: Will it erase all my patterns and settings from the esx after installing it? A: yes, an electriber typically would write backups to his/her SM-card first (see manual: shift+16, save All) Q: I understand that you can have many tracks on one part after installing the esx file. But how is that work in terms of sequencing? What if I want my hihats track to run on all 16 steps of the part? How/Where do you fit other instruments on that part too? A: using the start-position knob. You could manually specify a sample by specifying a start-value for each step (in step mode). Or, if you're like me, you just hit record and randomly mess with the start-position knob). Q: Is this pack loaded with patterns? A: No. There are a couple example patterns which demonstrate the possibilities and ways of organizing patterns. So, it's not a pack with loads of patterns. You should create those patterns. The pack demonstrates a new concept of organizing tracks on the ESX with more samples on each tracks, and less overall memory. Q: Can i create a beat with different samples on one part, with each playing at different pitches? A: Yes. Here's a small guide (make sure you first load the ESX-file in your ESX): 1. make sure motion sequence-button is set to smooth or trig hold 2. press play, and trigger step 1, 5, 9 & 13 3. go to step mode 4. press the step of which you want to change the sample (1, 5, 9 or 13 should flash now) 5. hold shift and turn the dialbutton to 'start' 6. press arrow down (next to patternknob) to select the startvalue 7. turn the dialbutton to set the 'start'-value (sample) 8. for example, put a kick on step 1 & 9, and a snare on 5 & 13 9. repeat! that's it! NOTE 1: at step 4, you can select 'pitch' (and actually all other parameterttypes) and apply it only for that step (sample). NOTE 2: the 'drunk' approach of the above would be: hit record and play, hold the arpeggiator so that all steps are triggered. Now wiggle the start-parameter like a madman. Now in stepmode you can alter all samples for each step (see step 3) Q: I hear clicks on every (drum)sample See the example patterns as a reference, or use them as a starting point. Envelope should be set to ⦦ instead of ⊓. Eg time should be set to 0. Also, in part select, slices should be 'ALL' instead of a slice-number. Q: i hear a weird LFO / tail after triggering a drumsound A: make sure you don't select slices for the drumsounds (set slice to 'ALL') and then use the start-knob to select your sample. Q: the decay/eg.time knob works differently / too sensitive A: Correct, since the multisamples are long samples, the eg.time range is based on the length of all 128 samples. But there's a workaround (at the cost of using the LFO section): select pitch as modulator, and set the time to 0. Now you can set a high (5 o clock) value for the modulation depth, while pitching the SAMPLE PITCH downards. This will trick the electribe into thinking its a short sample, and change the behaviour to work differently. Q: How do I start? TIP #1: Select a part, enable 'motion seq' → then select a multisample → set slice to 'ALL' → press record+start and move the ribbon-button + startknob. TIP #2: In step mode you can specify start-values to select a specific sample for each note. (Also pitch etc)
