Bronco Bigfoot Trail Ride
Bigfoot Ride Trail Report What an awesome turnout for this ride! It was great seeing so many familiar faces and meeting some new members as well. We even had a few people from our easy ride a couple of weeks ago who were ready to step up their game and tackle some more challenging trails. Big thanks to Chad for helping spot vehicles throughout the day and keeping everyone moving safely. Pumpkin Hollow Trail When we arrived at the first trailhead, I noticed a surprising number of vehicles parked way back in the woods. I remember thinking, “That’s a lot of cars for this area.” As we got closer, we spotted a group gathered inside an old greenhouse. Some appeared to be meditating, and from what I was told, a few were embracing the free-spirited festival lifestyle a little more than expected! Definitely not something any of us were expecting to find out in the woods. They were friendly, and we let them know we’d be passing through quickly. Turns out they were having a private fairy festival. Just another one of those trail stories you’ll never forget! The trail itself was muddier than we anticipated. Even though we were traveling downhill, the combination of mud and rocks created a few challenges. After the first several Broncos made it through, the obstacles got extremely slick. Many of the rocks were completely coated in mud and felt like ice. Everyone took their time, worked together, and made it down safely before heading off to the next trail. County Park Loop Before hitting the next trail, we stopped at the park for lunch. It had a nice shelter house, clean bathroom, and plenty of room for everyone to relax and eat. It was the perfect break before getting back on the trails. County Park Loop ended up being another muddy adventure. You start high up and gradually work your way down a rocky, muddy trail that eventually drops into the creek. Along the way there are several step-downs, waterfalls, and technical sections that make for a fun challenge. There are bypasses around the bigger obstacles, but most of the group chose to take them head on. It was great watching everyone push themselves and their Broncos. This trail has definitely earned a spot on my favorites list. By the end of the day, it was getting late, so we wrapped up the wheeling and headed over to the Bigfoot Festival in Stanton. The festival was pretty cool with lots of Bigfoot-themed vendors and memorabilia. Unfortunately, we didn’t spot any actual Bigfoots. It must have been too hot for them to come out. Overall, it was a fantastic day on the trails with an amazing group of people. Thanks to everyone who came out, helped each other, and made the ride such a success. Looking forward to the next adventure with all of you soon!
