The Canadian Camino - "The Okanagan Way" - Episode 3

Okanagan Falls to Penticton: 24 kilometers along a country road, Eastside road that follows the shoreline of Skaha Lake, the Lake to Lake bike path to the shoreline of Okanangan Lake. Today we rode through Lions Gardens, across the famous KVR Trestle bridge in Okanagan Falls, had a huge Turkey Vulture pass between us and another cyclist, met some kayakers, took a break at Pioneer Park in Kaleden and saw the Hotel Kaleden which is in dire need of donations to restore it. At Banbury Green we stopped because the trail is unsafe but noticed that there were no signs or fences warning people. The Banbury Green staff wouldn't permit us to access the highway up their road so we had to back track to the Hotel Kaleden. Highway 97 gets too narrow to risk travel to again we turned around and headed back to Okanagan Falls. This time we took McLean Creek road North passing Code Wines, to Eastside road past a number of wineries, Myers Vineyards, Synchromesh Wines, Apara Winery, Rigour & Whimsey, Duffy Mac Mine, Goldfish pond and Peachcliff trail. We saw California Big Horn Sheep, Marmots, cows, horses, a donkey, 3 miniature horses and finally hit Eastside road. You'll pass Uppercase Winery, Blasted Church, God's Mountain Estate, Painted Rock Estate Winery, Pentage Winery before you get onto the Lake to Lake bike route. Skaha Lake Park, at its North end, has a huge beach with several food vendors, Dragonboat Pub, Tickleberry's, Vallarta Grill and other services like the marina. As you ride towards the Okanagan Lake side of Penticton you can always vere off the bike route and take a walk down Main Street. On Saturdays they close a section of the street for an open Market.
