Copenhagen, April 6, 2016 Opening the new TIVOLI season, The Fifes & Drums Boy Guards paraded through the streets of Copenhagen with Pierrot entertaining! Again, I had my overdose of adrenaline rush marching BACKWARD more than one kilometre and half in front of these young people aged 8 to 16. Tak til Tivoli Garden, for musikken, sammen med deres vagter, både i uniform og i civil, samt en særlig tak til Pjerrot for underholdningen! Vi ses igen! Cheers! The Tivoli Gardens Boys Guard was established the same year Tivoli Gardens opened for the first time in 1844! The musical formation began in 1909 and has continued til today. Today up to 100 boys aged 8 to 16, with an average of less than 13, are a mini copy of the Danish Royal Guard. Each year 12 to 20 are enrolled to replace those leaving. They are schooled for one year in classical as well as in military music, before participating in the marches through the gardens and in Tivoli's Concert Hall in Tivoli, as well as through the streets of Copenhagen, and abroad on special occasions .
