We Have 14 Days to Start This Turbocharged Monster

The deadline has been set… we have just 14 days left to get the turbocharged Scammell running! In this episode we make huge progress towards the first start. We fabricate the charge pipework, fit an air-to-water intercooler, install a blow-off valve and add more sensors ready for the ECU. With the hardware coming together it’s finally time to start tackling the wiring, so we lay in the engine loom, mount the DC-DC converters and begin building the electrical system that will bring this 1950s monster into the modern age. With the loom removed for final assembly, attention turns to the exhaust system. Using our new plasma cutter we fabricate a full custom 4-inch stainless exhaust complete with provisions for the wastegate and wideband O2 sensor. Everything is going to plan… until the workshop consumer unit decides it has other ideas! We’re now incredibly close to hearing this 10.35 litre Meadows engine run on EFI for the first time, but there’s still plenty left to do before the deadline arrives. A huge thank you to Arc Captain and Silicone Hoses for helping support this project.
