They live their entire lives SEALED inside a JAR │ Seasonal Wetland Ecosphere - 6 Month Update!
In this video we take a look at the Seasonal Wetland ecosphere I built 6 months ago. I built it in the summer, when the water source had dried out. I added new water to the substrate, which enabled the ecosystem present to recover from their summer dormancy. This ecosphere has a lot of plant growth. Animals such as the wandering snails and dwarf flat ramshorns feed on them. There is also algae present which feeds a majority of the organisms such as the bladder snails and ostracods. Predators such as Hydras and Flatworms hunt prey within the jar such as Ostracods and young snails. One of the most unique species I've encountered within this ecosphere are the Green water mites. I struggled to film them during my previous videos due to their speed. I was very happy to be able to record some footage of them this time for you guys. I find their unusual body shape and coloration fascinating! There are a lot of snails living in this ecosphere. Bladder snails, Dwarf Flat Ramshorns and Wandering snails. They seem to all be doing well and I'm hopeful they will continue to coexist for years to come. Wandering snails are my favorite species of snail so it brings me a lot of joy seeing them thrive within this ecosphere. I am very happy with the ecosphere and it's easily become one of my favorites.
