I’m kinda busy and slow with the translating, so I’m dropping what I’ve got so far. Xiang Xiang, a female giant panda, was born on June 12, 2017, at Ueno Zoo in Japan. On February 21, 2023, she returned to China. Sorry this segment took me forever to finish. Part of it is just life — I’ve been swamped with personal stuff and panda-related things. And another part is that Zhao Naima isn’t someone who’s used to talking in front of the media, so the way she speaks can be pretty fragmented. She jumps from one thought to another, and the logic can feel a bit all over the place. So I had to first really understand what she meant, reorganize it into clear Mandarin, and only then translate it. But at the same time, I really wanted to keep her original tone and meaning. That’s why some parts of the translation might still feel a little choppy or slightly illogical — but trust me, it’s already way clearer than the raw version. —————————————————————————————————————— このパート、仕上げるのがめちゃくちゃ遅くなって本当にごめん。 最近ちょっと私生活もパンダ関係もバタバタしてて…それもあったんだけど、 もう一つは、ジャオナイマ がメディア対応に慣れてないタイプで、話し方がけっこう断片的なんだよね。思いついたことをそのままポンポン言う感じで、論理が飛んじゃったりするから、 まずは彼女が何を言いたかったのかちゃんと理解して、いったん普通話で文章を整理して、その上で翻訳する必要があったの。 でもできるだけ彼女のニュアンスは残したくて。 だから訳文も、ちょっとだけまとまりが弱かったり、「あれ？」って思う部分があるかもしれないけど、元のまんまよりは全然読みやすくしてあるはず。
