Rear Axle Measurement and Setup

This course covers the overhaul of the 9.5-inch rear axle. During this video, we demonstrate how to properly service the ring and pinion using the required special service tools. This includes obtaining the proper pinion depth, backlash, preload, and gear pattern. Upon completion of this course, technicians will be able to: Recall the procedures required to overhaul the 9.5-inch rear axle. Identify how to install the pinion gear with the correct shim and preload Identify how to install the differential carrier with proper bearing preload, backlash and gear pattern
