How likely is South Korea’s opposition to get enough votes to impeach Yoon?

Six South Korean opposition parties on Wednesday (Dec 4) submitted a Bill in parliament to impeach President Yoon Suk Yeol, less than a day after he declared martial law, then reversed the move hours later. Yoon’s shock move sparked protests and political turmoil in Asia’s fourth-largest economy. The opposition coalition is now short of eight votes to reach the minimum 200 needed to impeach the president. BJ Kim, affiliate professor at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, tells CNA’s Asia Tonight there is a “considerable likelihood” of members from Yoon’s People Power Party joining the vote.
