🗺️ MY CINQUE TERRE ITINERARY: A Complete Guide to 5 Legendary Villages! Hello, friends! In this video, I'm sharing my personal, tried-and-true itinerary through one of Italy's most beautiful places—the Cinque Terre. Get the complete travel plan, get inspired, and bookmark it! 🚂 Logistics: How I got around and where I stayed. Home base: I stayed in La Spezia. It's an ideal and very convenient location: accommodations are cheaper here, and the first and southernmost village of Riomaggiore is only an 8-minute train ride away! Transportation: The best way to travel between villages is by train. I bought a special Cinque Terre Treno Card. Card price: I traveled in May on a weekday, and the ticket cost me €22. It provides unlimited travel on trains between La Spezia and Levanto for the entire day, as well as access to paid hiking trails. ⚠️ IMPORTANT ABOUT PRICES: The Cinque Terre Card is now a floating price linked to the calendar (low, mid, and peak seasons). The price for 1 day for an adult ranges from €19.50 to €32.50 depending on the day of the week and month. In winter (November to mid-March), most trails are free, and the card is cheaper. 🚶‍♂️ Hiking trails: The national park has a huge number of trekking trails with incredible views. Some are free, but the most popular sections (for example, from Monterosso to Vernazza) require a card. If you want to walk the famous Path of Love (Via dell'Amore), you must pay an additional €10 fee and book a time slot in advance. 🥾 No flip-flops! Friends, if you're planning on hiking the trails between villages, forget about flip-flops, sandals, and sandals without backs! Hiking on mountain trails in inappropriate footwear can result in a fine—safety fines range from €50 to €2,500, as rescuers are tired of evacuating tourists by helicopter due to sprained ankles! Wear only comfortable sneakers or trekking boots with good soles. 🗺️ A breakdown of all 5 villages: What to see and do? Each village is a couple of minutes' train ride from each other. 1. Riomaggiore—The Southern Gateway. What's special: The signature postcard image of colorful houses nestled in a rocky gorge right by the water. What to do: Walk down to the tiny harbor to the rocky beach, climb to the ancient Castello di Riomaggiore (1260) for panoramic views, and stroll along the main tourist street, Via Colombo, with its cozy cafes. 2. Manarola — The most photogenic village. What's special: The most photographed and romantic spot in the Cinque Terre. This is where those unforgettable sunset shots are taken. What to do: Walk along the scenic path to the Manarola viewpoint, watch the sunset with a glass of local sweet wine, Sciacchetrà, and dine at the famous Nessun Dorma restaurant right on the cliff. 3. Corniglia — A village on a cliff. The only village without direct access to the sea. What's special: It's located at an altitude of 100 meters on a rocky promontory, surrounded by emerald vineyards. It's incredibly quiet and authentic. What to do: Climb the famous Scalinata Lardarina staircase of 382 brick steps from the train station to the village (or take the eco-bus with the map). Stroll along the shady narrow streets and enjoy the panorama from the observation deck. 4. Vernazza - The Pearl of the Coast. Many consider it the most picturesque of the five. What's special: It has its own cozy natural harbor, a beautiful piazza by the water, and a small sandy beach. What to do: Sit on the pier and admire the moored boats, climb to the medieval tower of the Castello Doria for a fantastic view from above, and peer into the ancient church right at the water's edge. 5. Monterosso al Mare — A resort center. The northernmost and largest of all the villages. What's special: The only place in Cinque Terre with a full, long, and beautiful sandy beach with turquoise water and colorful umbrellas.
