With divine authority, Jesus heals a Roman centurion's servant from a distance. The centurion, being a Gentile, demonstrates a greater faith than Jesus found in Israel, showing that those who have faith are the ones who will share in the kingdom of God, along with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. People who knew Jesus personally described him as a prophet "mighty in word and deed" (Luke 24:19), "a man attested to by God with wonders and signs" (Acts 2:22), and as someone who was anointed "with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil" (Acts 10:37-38). Eyewitness accounts of the Lord's life confirm the number and variety of his powerful works performed during his earthly ministry.
