NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization), established in 1949 against the Soviet Union, is a defense organization with 30 member states that still exists even after the end of the Cold War. Serving as a bridge between Europe and America, Turkey joined the organization in 1952 following the Korean War. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, NATO participated in many more operations, including those in Yugoslavia, Kosovo, and Afghanistan.
